The Leavenworth Public Library is part of the Northeast Kansas Library System (NEKLS), a group of 51 libraries working together to provide material to patrons across northeast Kansas.
Mission Statement: The Leavenworth Public Library is a gathering space for everyone that stimulates discovery, understanding and enjoyment.
Company History
The Leavenworth Public Library was established in 1902 through the efforts of local citizens, the City of Leavenworth and millionaire Andrew Carnegie.
The Library moved from its original Carnegie building to the current location in 1987. The current building was formerly a grocery store, donated by the store owners, the Jahn family.
