Are You Looking For Us?
We’re a small team with a big agenda – helping people become great communicators. And most days, it’s show time as we host workshops, keynote presentations and 1:1 coaching sessions to inspire communication. It’s rewarding work that blends expertise and innovation to deliver insights, tools and ongoing support. Behind the scenes, our small team thinks outside the box and blurs the lines of specific roles to leverage each team member’s skills to bring an engagement to life. You join us with one skill, but we create the opportunity to triple those skills in no time. If you want to learn and grow, you’re looking for us.

You could say we make an impact every day, and we have a little fun along the way.

About Sally Williamson & Associates (SW&A):
SW&A is a premier resource for leadership and communication coaching. We inspire clients from first-time managers to C-Suite leaders to engage, influence, and impact others through compelling communication.

Whether you’re trying to motivate a team, establish buy-in from senior leaders, create a memorable and repeatable message from complex data, or even just share an idea with other colleagues, one of the greatest challenges leaders face is how to create compelling communication.

Drawn from three decades of experience, SW&A’s training and coaching methodology is tailored to support our clients needs. We begin the process by evaluating two fundamentals: content (what you say), and style (how you say it).

Our Coaching Bench:
Executive Coaching can mean a dozen things to a dozen people. To us, an Executive Coach means someone who can inspire clients from first-time managers to C-Suite leaders to engage, influence, and impact others through compelling communication.

The training and development field has coaches and training firms. But the paths don’t cross often. At SW&A, they sit in the same room every day. In fact, our team members wear both hats!

This role will become a member of our Coaching Bench and help to design, deliver and perfect our tailored training programs, as well as work in 1:1 coaching engagements with Fortune 500 clients from mid-career to the C-Suite.

Candidates should have a proven background in learning and development, talent management, or executive communications, and possess a strong team mentality, a willingness to grow and develop their own skillset, and be able to contribute to a culture of collaboration and professional excellence.

This role will work directly with Sally Williamson and our other Executive Coaches to master SW&A’s methodology. This position must be able to work in-person and must be willing to be based full-time in Atlanta, GA.

There is often a little confusion between what a Consultant does vs. a Coach. Here’s how we think about it.

The Four Criteria We Look for in our Executive Coaches:

  • Empathy vs Sympathy – It’s hard to get honest feedback at a leadership level, and it should be the number one expectation of a coach. No one likes just the bad news, but coaching without honest and straightforward feedback loses its value quickly. It isn’t always easy to be completely honest with someone, and it takes good intuition and insight to share feedback as a perspective. Our coaches have to be able to help a client see blind spots, challenges and gaps in their approach.
  • Active vs Reactive Listening – In the context of communication, a good coach can help a client consider the different perspectives on a topic, not just feed their own perspective right back to them. In most coaching situations, we explain to a leader that coaching will be as much about the leader’s key audiences as about the leader themselves. And the reason is that in order to help someone drive influence, you have to be able to help them understand how they create intentional and unintentional impressions.
  • Challenger and Comforter – There are times when clients need a coach to build their confidence, and there are times when they need to be a little humbled. We all need that. A client wants to find someone who has a good cadence of “telling it like it is” and helping them get over the rough spots in a new role.
  • Understand Approach and Methodology – Every coach has a different approach to helping someone reach their goals. And there are a LOT of coaches out there. We’re often told that our work with clients is hard work. And we take great pride in that. Our coaches must be genuinely focused on helping someone improve their skills or impact, not just talk about them. One of our favorite proof points came from one executive in their second session when his coach told him we were going to roleplay a specific issue that we identified in his first session. He looked at his coach with surprise and said, “Wait! We’re actually going to work on this stuff?” Yes…yes we are.

Our coaches are dedicated client partners and should approach this role with a veteran eye and a tireless enthusiasm for helping others succeed.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • 20+ Years leadership experience in a role focused on developing people or developing corporate messaging
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized with excellent attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal savvy & customer focus
  • Relates well to all kinds of people – up, down, and sideways, inside and outside the organization; builds appropriate rapport; builds constructive and effective relationships.

  • Asks impactful questions and listens actively
